It’s Oscar season again, and the stakes could not be higher for this year’s nominees. From movies depicting real life situations (Hidden Figures, Moonlight) to complete fantasy (La-La Land, Arrival), one thing the Oscar nominees all have in common is that they make the Academy proud. As the Washington Post put it, collectively, they’re an argument about what (we) can be if we make use of everyone’s talents.

That’s how Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) feels about announcing our annual Channel Partner Performance Award winners for 2016. These companies’ dedication and support helped our shared customers achieve mission-critical IT goals globally. The partners and categories include:

Partners were chosen based on their track record of performance, including both financial and partnership engagement metrics. Each winner went the extra mile to collaborate with Sungard AS on both new and existing customers.

For example, one team consisting of a partner performance winner, a technology alliance member, and Sungard AS collaborated with a customer to revitalize a stalled dedicated hardware deal by architecting a Cisco-powered cloud solution that closed in less than three months. This was a new customer for Sungard AS, and a win that included both up-front and recurring revenue for the partner.

Sungard AS introduced its channel partner program in 2009 across the U.S. and Canada. As part of its joint selling model, Sungard AS works with partners to provide complete solutions to their joint customers, meeting their evolving needs for as-a-service delivery models and OPEX financing.

The European expansion to the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Sweden in 2016 came after the continued success of Sungard AS’ existing program, which has produced consecutive year-over-year, double digit growth and been repeatedly recognized with partner and industry awards. Since then, more than 80 partners have joined.

What’s Up Next?

In 2017, Sungard AS is focused on helping channel partners better understand the bimodal IT challenges their customers face, trying to maintain and protect legacy workloads while simultaneously meeting the needs of business leaders for fast, agile capabilities. Through webinars, videos and whitepapers Sungard AS will help partners understand and how take advantage of these industry trends.

In Europe, plans are in place to recruit a select number of master agents, service providers, and “cloud-first” solution providers who are actively making the transition selling as-a-service solutions to customers.

While the Sungard AS Partner Performance Awards aren’t as high profile as the Oscars, the two share something important. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has a track record of honoring actors and film producers who go above and beyond, who take on inspiring roles that demand the utmost from them. Sungard AS applauds this year’s Partner award winners for the very same thing.
